One of Gilbert and Sullivan’s best known works, The Pirates is an ideal play for those either familiar or unfamiliar with the colourful world of operetta.  Produced by Martin Yates, the production features a full orchestra together with a cast of talented home grown singers.

It tells the story of a young pirate apprentice name Frederic who falls in love with Mabel, the daughter of Major General Stanley.  When the pirates themselves descend upon the beautiful bunch of maidens and decide to carry them off to be married, the General arrives on the scene and pleads on their behalf by stating he is an orphan, thus winning a reprieve for his daughters.  The General is terrified that the pirates will uncover his lie but Frederick eases his fears, promising to apprehend the band and put an end to their plundering.

Does he succeed?  Will he marry Mabel?  Come and see the show and discover its twists and turns.  You will be pleasantly surprised and entertained.
